NHS at 60!
Sometimes we forget how much our party has transformed Britain. On the 5th of July the NHS celebrated its 60th anniversary.
The NHS stands as a shining example to the world of how a society cares for its sick. Everyone in Britain uses the NHS at some point in their lives, whether it is visiting a GP or an accident and emergency
department. Using a free national health service is something worth
really celebrating.
The 60th anniversary also allows the Labour Party to reflect on how much it has been a force for good in British society. Every major
advance in the past 100 years from the NHS to the minimum wage has been
down to a Labour Party committed to social justice and greater fairness
in society.
Let us not forget that every one of those measures has been opposed by the Tory Party and it still goes on.
As much as David Cameron tries to say that he has changed he cannot hide from his record. He voted against flexible working, maternity
leave and paternity pay.
On top of this Cameron has committed the Tories to sweeping cuts in the public services. All of this adds up to the simple truth that public
services are only safe with the Labour Party.
values, the actions of David Cameron and the Tories demonstrate how
devoid they are of values at all.
